JOHN BALDESSARI 'Magnetic Poetry', 2010 17,8 x 12,7 cm sheet of half cut-through magnets, issued in stiff plastic envelope (17,7 x 18,6 cm) with offset on cover JOHN BALDESSARI 'Wrong', ca 2010 5 x 7 x 2 cm eraser, sealed in cellophane as issued * Definitively a shopping item for raising money for LACMA. Yet interesting enough as part of the artist's line of thought. Partly based on John Baldessari's painting 'Wrong' from 1967. JOHN BALDESSARI 'The Pencil Story', 2010 19,5 x 11,5 x 1 cm 12 pencils, offset on cover, cellophane bag * 'I will not make any more boring art' is printed on each of the 12 pencils. The sentence is taken from a lithograph by John Baldessari. The title of this set refers to 'The Pencil Story', an image/text work by Baldessari from 1972-'73, and is illustrated on the cover of the set. This is a bit confusing because it is another work he made a few years earlier in 1971. Nevertheless very good to read again in order to refresh the mind of what art is all about: I had this old pencil on the dashboard of my car for a long time. Every time I saw it, I felt uncomfortable since its point was so dull and dirty. I always intended to sharpen it and finally couldn't bear it any longer and did sharpen it. I'm not sure, but I think that this has something to do with art.
